Abstract

Organic solar cells have the advantages of low cost, light weight, flexibility and easy fabrication in large area. They have important application prospects in the fields of portable electronics, BIPV and military industry. We mainly introduce the progress in solution-processable flexible organic solar cells. Firstly, a kind of low-cost non-conjugated small-molecule electrolyte manufactured by wet process was innovatively developed as cathode interface of organic solar cells. Instead of traditional evaporation-plated interface materials and expensive organic conjugated interface materials, the photoelectric conversion efficiency of single-junction positive polymer solar cells was increased up to 10.02%, breaking through the bottleneck of 10% efficiency for single-junction organic solar cells1. This kind of interface material has low price and can be processed by wet process such as printing, which can effectively reduce the preparation cost of organic solar cells. Secondly, flexible OPV without ITO electrode was prepared by wet process, and the efficiency was over 10%2. At the same time, it was found that adding carbohydrates to conductive polymer PEDOT electrode could improve the adhesion between the electrode and PET flexible substrate, thereby greatly improving the bending resistance of the device3. In addition, by further using the ternary heterojunction strategy, the efficiency is increased to over 14.06%, and the bending resistance is more than 1000 times, which is among the highest efficiency for flexible organic solar cells4.
